DJ Cheese and DMC Mixing Champs 1986 - The Street Scene
Each week in the Street Tips section of the mag was a page called Wicked Pulse. In all honesty I never really paid much attention to this page as I never had any idea what the records were they were talking about. The only time I recall to there being anything hop hop related was a Steinski interview which I've unusually lost and the page below on 1986 DMC Champion DJ Cheese with the final few paragraphs covering the final briefly. I've also put a page from the main mag below the DJ Cheese page which again briefly covers the 1986 championship.
Street Scene Hip Hop No.20
Issue 20 was the last issue I was able to get my hands on. I've no idea if there were any issues after this one, all I do know is that despite searching I could never find one and the magazine was sorely missed by myself and no doubt hundreds of others. I'm sure if there were any more issues someone will hopefully point it out. In this final issue Chuck Chill interviews Grandmaster Flash and does his weekly 'Electro/Soul Report' together with the usual news, reveiws and weekly chart.
Street Scene Hip Hop No.19
In this issue we find Chuck Chill chatting to Aleem as well as doing his now regular 'Electro/Soul Report' column. Also included were the usual reviews, news and weekly chart.
Street Scene Hip Hop No.18
An Original Concept interview this week from Chuck Chill and some kind words from him regarding the UK scene at the time. The usual reveiws, news and chart included.
Street Scene Hip Hop No.17
New to the page this week was the 'Chuck Chill Hip Hop Report' and we finally get to see what Chuck Chill looked like and it wasn't quite what I expected to be honest. Not being to stereotypical but I was expecting a trainer/tracksuit clad B-Boy not some guy wearing leather from head to foot together with a scalf !! Usual reveiws and news plus a brief mention about Future Shock, Goldie and the Supreme Team all from the UK.
Street Scene Hip Hop No.16
Great interview from Chuck Chill with the late Scott La Rock and Blastmaster KRS1 from 12:41 about the great track 'Success is the Word'. Usual news, reveiws and weekly chart included.
Street Scene Hip Hop No.15
This week we had another Chuck Chill interview, this time around it was The Fat Boys who gots his attention, plus the usual news and reviews. There's also a short write up on a Rock Box all-dayer in London.
Street Scene Hip Hop No.14
Double page spread on British graffiti artists The Chrome Angelz was the highlight of this issue. Also included was a small piece on The Wild Bunch from Bristol. Didn't agree with the two stars that was given to the Original Concept track 'Can You Feel It?' in the review section and the 'Electro Top 40' chart leaves the hip hop pages to join all the other charts from within the magazine on their own designated page in the main mag.
